Your keyword analysis, competitive landscape, existing web content and business goals are all driving factors and considerations in determining the depth of initial and monthly scheduled SEO efforts. SEO is the basic layer of search marketing, and is integral to supporting other online marketing efforts that drive traffic and conversions to your website. Room 214 employs a variety of recognized SEO best practices, and follows a proven system based on the following steps:
Step 1: Keyword Grouping and Creation of SEO Planning Document Based on your feedback and keyword research, we typically select 30-60 keywords for content consideration and create a shortlist of no less than 15-20 keywords as the primary focus (depending upon the size of your site and the volume of competition). We will systematically drill down to the most efficient keywords based on the research, and divide the words into groups of between 2 and 6 words or phrases. From there, we will assign each group to a given web page, which will be the most relevant and most effective for increased rankings. You will have the opportunity to review the recommended keyword groups before the final on-page optimization process begins.
Step 2: Initial Site Ranking and Reporting Setup We check the current ranking of the site for your top primary keywords. The Initial Site Ranking Report will help us determine the current status of the site and will be useful as a reference for checking the progress in rankings over time.
Step 3: Optimization Once we have addressed all questions pertaining to how pages will be updated and receive approval from you regarding recommendations within the SEO Planning Document, we will begin the actual implementation. This includes recommending changes applicable to HTML tags, content structures, number of pages, site navigation, titles, headers, URL page names, etc. With the exception of changes to body content (SEO copywriting), we will implement all approved changes within your site OR provide the documentation needed to assist your alternative resources for doing the same.
Note: Content writing services that include SEO copy writing and significant web development changes (graphics related, for example) are billed separately. We provide the guidance needed to write effective SEO copy. Copy writing services can be outsourced upon request.
Step 4: Google Sitemap and Webmaster Account Creation Google's xml-based sitemap schema was recently made a standard after Yahoo! and Microsoft both adopted the methodology as part of their own indexing algorithm. We create this sitemap and set up the Webmaster account concurrently to assist Google in indexing sites when SEO changes are first released. Depending on site structure, content may also be formatted and submitted through the Google Base application.
Step 5: Search Engine Submission and 30-Day Report Delivery The optimized site is submitted to various free Search Engines and Directories, and will also be submitted to selected paid directories each month as well. We wait for the search engines to spider the site so the optimization can be reflected in the rankings, then provide the initial, custom ranking report one month from the day of final submissions.
Ongoing: Reporting, directory submissions and/or coordination of link building efforts continue on a monthly basis. Each quarter, the original SEO Planning Document is reviewed alongside monthly analytics to determine needed revisions to improve search rankings. A new round of SEO maintenance is then carried out, with new ranking and traffic results measured monthly.
