Social Media Tutorials and “Fire Your PR Firm” White Paper Earn AMA Award Recognition for Room 214

Boulder, Colo., June 12, 2007 – Room 214, http://www.room214.com, a search marketing and social media agency, was presented with both a gold and a silver Peak Award from the Colorado chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) at its award show in Denver on June 7, 2007.

The gold award was presented in the category of Social Media for the firm’s collection of video tutorials that provide quick and easy lessons in setting up and maintaining various Internet social media and search visibility tools such as Digg, NewsGator, Google Reader, and topics relating to blogs, iTunes and RSS. The tutorials can be found at http://tutorials.CaptureTheConversation.com.

"Our goal was to demonstrate that these tools can be set up very quickly -- in the span of 10 minutes -- and the return you get from them can be enormous. We want to be a social media resource for our clients and prospects," said Jason Cormier, Co-Founding Partner of Room 214.

The silver award was presented for Room 214’s white paper titled “Fire Your PR Firm.” The white paper urges all companies to include web analytics and social media components in all PR planning efforts,” adds Cormier.

"This white paper was based on Room 214’s 'Capture the Conversation' philosophy: 1) search engines are media and 2) markets are conversations. Our intent is to make it obvious to PR agencies and their clients that monitoring and participating in discussions in the Internet marketplace leads to countless opportunities. These things can not be overlooked in a comprehensive marketing and PR program," said James Clark, Co-Founding Partner of Room 214.

The following excerpt appears in 'Fire Your PR Firm':

Market conversations hold the key to the survival for any business. In fact, they always have. But today, with the prominence of weblogs, forums, podcasts and other types of widely available conversational media, no company can afford to ignore or devalue them.

You can’t control market conversations, however, you can capture them. By capturing we mean measuring, analyzing, implementing and engaging in a communications strategy based on real-time, real-world data. This is the path to true influence and healthy market relationships.
